Mevagissey Buckingham House Access Statement

Introduction

We are fully committed to making Buckingham House as accessible to as many visitors as possible. The information provided here is intended to help guests with access needs decide if our guest house is a suitable place for them to stay and to plan and prepare for their visit.  Please contact us if you require any further information.

Buckingham House is a grade 2 listed building situated in an elevated position near the centre of the picturesque Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey. Our guest house is a lovely old Georgian building readily accessible to most people except those with very limited mobility.  We are located about 80m up a fairly steep hill where the gradient is still relatively gentle.  The guest rooms are all located on the first and second floors. There are steps both into the building and up to the rooms and there is no lift: so regrettably our accomodation is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

  • We are located about 80 meters up a narrow street from a T junction with the main street running through Mevagissey. There is no pavement: our front door exits via three steps directly onto the road.
  • The nearest shops, pubs, restaurants and the sea front itself are all within a very short walking distance.
  • The nearest bus stop is approximately 100 meters away at the side of The Ship Inn where bus services to Heligan Gardens can be accessed. The bus service to St Austell bus and rail station departs and arrives at Trevarth bus stop, which is a fairly level walk of 0.3 miles from Buckingham House.
  • Food Allergies and Intolerances: Please let us know if want to know about our ingredients. If guests make us aware of any dietary needs prior to their visit or on arrival, we will do our best to meet them.
  • Our website at www.buckinghamhousemevagissey.co.uk shows many pictures of our accommodation and further information about the facilities and services available.
  • We do not accept dogs, except assistance dogs.
