Introduction

Our guesthouse is a grade 2 listed building situated in an elevated position near the centre of the picturesque Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey. Buckingham House is a lovely old Georgian building readily accessible to most people except those with very limited mobility. We are located towards the bottom of a hill where the gradient is still gentle. The guest rooms are all located on the first and second floors. There are steps both into the building and into the rooms which would make them unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

  • We are located about 100 meters up a narrow street which forms a T junction with the main street running through the village.

  • The nearest shops, pubs, restaurants and the sea front itself are all within a very short walking distance.

  • The nearest bus stop is just 100 meters away at the side of The Ship Inn with hourly bus services to both Heligan Gardens and the main St Austell railway Station.

  • St Austell is on the main line to London Paddington (4 hrs) and also has services to Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and the North West. Taxis are always available at the station.

  • We have a friendly rough collie dog who welcomes other dogs to the premises - as do the proprietors!

  • Our website at www.buckinghamhousemevagissey.co.uk shows many pictures of our accommodation and further information about the history of the premises and the facilities and services available.

  • You can contact us by telephone, text or email. (See contact information at the end of this document)

    Arrival And Car Parking

  • Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time. We will then make sure that we are here to welcome you.

  • To ensure that your accommodation is ready, we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 2.30 p.m. Earlier arrival time is possible by prior arrangement.

  • Guests can park outside the guesthouse to unload luggage. The most suitable car park is generally at Sunny Corner, which is safe, manned and just 3 minutes walk away.

  • A parking pass for the duration of your stay (max. £ 5 pound per 24 hour day) can easily be obtained on arrival. We have a special “honesty arrangement” with Sunny Corner so that if the car park is not manned at the time, a Buckingham House card in the window will suffice until the next day. This avoids having to mess around with coins and machines.

  • The full cost of weekly parking will be reimbursed for all twin, double or family stays of a week or more.

  • We are very pleased to assist with luggage to make your arrival that much easier.

    Main Entrance

  • There are 3 large steps up to the front door.

  • Please use the bell rather than the knocker as the building runs to 4 floors and the bell is audible throughout.
